Client Manager (leading to Client Director 9-12 mths time)

Location: Milton Keynes (with travel to London)

Are you a dynamic and technically strong but commercially aware qualified Senior Accountant / Assistant Manager (ACCA / ACA/ CIMA or other Internationally recognised qualification) in practice looking to make the next move up? Fed up with the stuffiness of a traditional accounting practice?

You'll need to have your head in the Cloud using the latest accounting and productivity tools such as Xero, Fathom, Futurli, Dropbox, Skype, Google Docs, Receipt Bank to name a few. And of course, you 'll need to be comfortable with the Office Suite of products to keep your feet on the ground.

You'll need to have drive, commercial interest and a minimum 3-5 years PQE of working in a UK firm of accountants, preferably in a large or mid tier / top 50 firm where a wide range of skills were needed. The ability to take the initiative, spot opportunities, solve problems and a desire to learn are key.

If you excel , expect Client Director within 9-12 months.

The role:

The Client Manager role is pivotal to the way we work. You will be expected to work closely with the Director of Tax and take joint responsibility to oversee a team of client accountants, book keepers and accounts assistants managing 200 plus clients ranging from contractors to high growth businesses and ensure all external filing deadlines are met. You will also have the opportunity to work with our high profile directors and get involved in a number of ad hoc projects and corporate finance work.

Essential Skills:

  • Been in practice and done the work from the “ground up”
  • Xero Certified Advisor
  • Experience of managing a diverse client portfolio in a business advisory capacity not just compliance and hunger to win / develop new service lines
  • Extensive and practical knowledge of Management Accounts production, budgeting, forecasting and application of KPI's. You'll be expected to interpret what the numbers mean to financially literate clients.
  • Comfortable in making presentations and attending marketing events
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Technically up to date on UK GAAP and FRS's
  • Tech savvy - you know your APPS as much as you know your GAAP's. If you dislike technology we re not for you. 
  • Excellent excel knowledge
  • Some payroll, year end PAYE, quarterly VAT returns and tax experience. 
  • Processing journals, accounting adjustments and year end adjustments 
  • Excellent communication skills - in person and written
  • High level of attention to detail and disciplined
  • Prepared accounts from start to finish without assistance for a variety of medium size businesses
  • Experience of working alongside tax professionals. 
  • Minimum 2:1 degree, 20 UCAS points ( A levels or equivalent), Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent), minimum B grade

Admin and Executive Support (5 days a week - part time)

Location: Milton Keynes (with some travel to London)

Job Description:

  • Fully handle the client onboarding process in relation to the receipts collections process (viadirect debits and BACS)
  • Fully handle the client renewalprocess including information on the receipts collections process (viadirect debits and BACS)
  • Maintaining list of clients and where we are with each client
  • Newsletter sending
  • Take responsibility and fully handle document requests with regulating authorities (ICAEW) and HMRC
  • Send Professional Clearance Letters
  • Prepare accounts payable listings and/or set up payments for directors to authorise
  • Raise Sales invoices (add hoc and repeating) on Xero and set up payment collections on the direct debit system
  • Chase up late payers
  • Co ordinate and update information on various softwares such as Xero, Capsule CRM, Dropbox, GoogleDocs and other applications including Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Continuously monitor, review and check processes over office protocol are being applied by all team members
  • Approve staff expenses andensure where applicable these are recharged to the clients
  • Introduce timesheeting systemand ensure we bill time out to clients where this is required.
  • Work with the Alexander Rosseaccounts team and practice manager
  • Work with the directors -helping to plan and prepare for meetings, arranging staff events, prepareand take the lead on marketing campaigns
  • Other add hoc office duties

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Professional accountingqualification (eg; AAT) or QBE or admin / secretarial qaulification
  • Disciplined and must haveexcellent attention to detail and impeccable organisation skills to multitask
  • Assertive with excellent verbaland written communications
  • At ease with Microsoft Officeproducts and technology
  • Professional, not fazed by hardwork
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Mathsand English at Grade B or above. 
  • Educated to at least A level orequivalent standard
  • Experience of accountingsoftware (Xero preferable)

Junior Accounts Assistant - Apprenticeship Book keeping

We have an exciting opportunity for a business and finance minded individual who is interested in starting from the basics and be part of our fast growing Accounting team.

We are one of the UK's leading Chartered Accountants & Corporate Finance Advisors and pioneers in SAAS based accounting. We are at the front line in dealing with the accounting and tax needs of high-profile clients. Our firm is fast paced, challenging and there are tight deadlines to be met. No two days will ever be the same.

Based at our Milton Keynes office, the role is primarily book keeping and accounting based along with office administration duties. Candidates may also be given the opportunity to work on statutory accounts and other types of accounting work.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:

  • Disciplined and well organised
  • Hungry for experience and learning about cloud based accounting
  • Keen to further their education by studying towards the AAT qualification
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths, Accounting and English at Grade A or above. You will not be considered if your grades are below this.
  • A level (or equivalent) minimum of 22 points
  • Strong practical knowledge of MS office including good Excel and MS Word application
  • Basic accounting knowledge
  • Accuracy/attention to detail essential
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with a pleasing telephone manner and the ability to communicate clearly
